Rokin Logistics & Bayer: Embarking on a New Journey of Green Transportation
2024-11-22

Recently, the launch ceremony of the "Bayer CH Green Transportation Project" was grandly held in Shanghai. Representatives from Bayer's Consumer Health Division, including its supply chain team, procurement team, government affairs and sustainability team, as well as Rokin Logistics' project service team, were invited to attend the event. This launch marks a new chapter in the deep collaboration between Rokin Logistics and Bayer in the field of green logistics, with both parties working together to set a new benchmark for sustainable development in the pharmaceutical industry.

During the project preparation phase, leveraging its professional logistics planning and resource integration capabilities, Rokin Logistics conducted in-depth research into every aspect of Bayer's product supply chain and developed two innovative solutions tailored for the CH Green Transportation Project: These routes will be the first to replace traditional diesel vehicles with natural gas-powered vehicles for cargo transportation. It is estimated that this initiative can reduce carbon emissions by up to 13%, with an annual carbon reduction exceeding 24,000 kg CO2e—equivalent to planting 1,050 trees, afforesting 2.4 hectares (about 3.5 soccer fields), or a typical household car driving approximately 80,000 km (equivalent to circling the Earth's equator twice). This achievement holds significant importance for achieving the company's ESG goals. Rokin Logistics recognizes that green logistics is not only an environmental requirement but also a key strategy for enhancing corporate competitiveness and sustainable development.

The Head of Product Supply for Bayer Consumer Health China and Asia-Pacific Supply Chain noted that the CH Green Transportation Project not only helps reduce carbon emissions but also demonstrates Bayer's firm commitment to green and sustainable development. The launch of this project marks a solid step forward for Bayer in the field of green logistics. In the future, as natural gas vehicle resources become more abundant, Bayer plans to further expand the scope and scale of green transportation, applying it to more routes and scenarios.

Bayer China's Director of Public & Government Affairs and Sustainability emphasized that Bayer has very clear emission reduction targets: achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and net-zero emissions across the entire value chain by 2050. Therefore, actively promoting green logistics without compromising business performance is a crucial step toward these goals and a reflection of the company's social responsibility.

Zhu Pengfei, General Manager of Rokin Logistics Shanghai Pharmaceutical Company, expressed his honor in collaborating with Bayer to advance the CH Green Transportation Project. He stated that Rokin Logistics has always integrated the concept of green development into its core corporate values, and this cooperation represents an important opportunity to fulfill social responsibilities and drive the green transformation of the industry. He expressed confidence that the close collaboration between the two parties will inject new momentum into the sustainable development of both Rokin Logistics and Bayer while providing a replicable model for green logistics in the pharmaceutical industry.

This collaboration between Rokin Logistics and Bayer is not only a significant breakthrough in green logistics for both companies but also an important step forward for the pharmaceutical industry toward sustainable development. Moving forward, the two parties will continue to work hand in hand, leading the way in green logistics and striving to build a more environmentally friendly and efficient pharmaceutical supply chain.
